KGLL Champions!

The U15LL Ayr Rockets have finished their season on top!

 

The team ended the regular season in first place, earning them a semi-final game against the fourth place team, Guelph Gryphons-1. The Rockets took the game 4-1.

 

The championship game was held on April 1st against the Kitchener Lady Rangers-White. Although the Rockets outshot the Lady Rangers 25-8 the game ended in a draw of 0-0. In Overtime action both teams still struggled to find the net, which led to the anxiety-inducing Shoot-Outs. The Rockets managed to score one of their three attempts and our excellent goal-tending shut the Lady Rangers down.

 

Ayr wins gold! 

 

This season has been a great success for the team as they brought home gold medals at two of the four tournaments in which they participated. The senior members, on this small team of 11 players, displayed incredible leadership and persistent effort. Our younger players were resilient and courageous, contending with older, bigger and more experienced players.

 

The coaching team of Charlene Wood (Head Coach), Randy Smith (Assistant Coach), Scott McLeod (Assistant Coach) and Cara Akerman (Trainer) did an exceptional job of teaching, not only hockey, but class and sportsmanship in the face of challenging situations.
