Ayr Rockets Hockey Programming 2024-2025

Local League Hockey:

Ayr Rockets Local League Program provides girls the opportunity to play Local League hockey within the Kitchener Local League. Ayr Rockets Local League teams participate in home and away regular season and playoff games, practice times and the Jason Cripps Memorial Tournament. Teams that advance in the Cripps tournament and league playoffs shall receive additional ice as well. Local League Coaches typically with parents' consensus enter 1-2 additional tournaments throughout the season.

Regular scheduled Local League ice times usually begin after the Thanksgiving weekend - you will have ice times in September to create these teams and practice. At this time we have not allocated specific nights to specific age groups, this will be determined in September. Game times will vary depending on scheduling.

U9 Local League Program:

In addition to the Local League Program above, the Rockets U9 Half-ice Program is designed to teach players the physical literacy, fitness, and basic skills required of the game. All games are half-ice with the emphasis on developing player skills essential for hockey in a fun, fair-play environment! U9 players may transition to full-ice games after January 15th. This program follows the LPTD (Long-Term Player Development) model implemented by Hockey Canada.

U7 Local League Program:

This is formerly the FUNdamentals Program and has evolved to grow your daughters love for the game of hockey early. The Rockets U7 Program runs from early October to end of March and includes a practice program designed to teach players the fundamentals of the game, gain additional skills, then put those new skills into action with half-ice hockey games. The first half of the program will be all skill-focused practices. The second half of the season continues with practices but adds in half-ice games in the local league (KGLL).

No prior experience is required!

Representative Level Hockey:

Ayr Rockets Rep Programs provide players competitive hockey play within the Southern Ontario Women's Hockey League. This level of play requires additional commitment in the form of tryout, rep and team fees, travel, and time. Rep teams will have regular season and playoff schedules and may participate in OWHA sanctioned tournaments.
